THE YARD
One of the most popular and friendly bars in the 'pink triangle'. It's long been a regular meeting place for local Tgirls who frequent the bar just about every night of the week - Friday night being the most popular. So where better to start the night off, with a few drinks and chat before contemplating your next move. It is open until 2am so you could spend the whole night there or move on to somewhere a bit livelier, upstairs is Heavens Above with a dance floor and poles for the extroverts or go next door to Switch bar which plays dance music until 2am or Powerhouse which is open until 5am for the diehards.

WHERE IS THE POWERHOUSE? *************************************** The Powerhouse is situated at 15-19 Westmorland Road, which is about 3 minutes walk from Central Station, near the Centre for Life. [Google map] The club at the centre of the Newcastle gay scene, or 'Pink Triangle', which is located between the Metro Arena and the Centre for Life/Times Square. [Map]

HOW DO I GET TO NEWCASTLE? ***************************************
Newcastle upon Tyne is the capital city in the north-east of England, and is only two hours forty minutes away from London by the fastest rail service. Edinburgh is an hour away.
By car: Newcastle is easy to get to by car. Take the A1(M) from London in the south and Edinburgh in the north; the A19 from York; the M6 from the south-west and west to Carlisle; and the A69 from Carlisle to Newcastle upon Tyne.
Car parking is available along Scotswood Road, and there are car parks available for guests at the Holiday Inn and Jury's Inn hotels.
By bus: National Express runs a regular service from the Central Bus Station which is right smack in the middle of the LGBT scene, and only 50 or so yards from the nearest hotels.
By train: Newcastle Central train station is part of the main east coast line and is easily within walking distance of all the LGBT friendly bars and hotels, and The Vault. You just come out of the station front door and turn left, keep walking for a 3 mins and you're there! Newcastle can be reached by train from London in around 3 hours.
By plane: Newcastle International Airport is well served by the local Metro underground train system, which has a train direct from the Airport to the Central railway station and the heart of T-girl heaven within 25mins! It operates domestic services to major cities including London, Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, Aberdeen and Glasgow.
